I know! It's been a month since my last update. And guess what? Not too much has changed except for the fact that both Spud and I have grown. Substantially! However, that's not to say that nothing's been going on...the month started off with a beautiful winter wedding for our friends Becky and Chad. I was just one of many pregnant women at the wedding - there were LOTS of kiddie cocktails being passed around that reception!
The next weekend, Patrick and I joined about 9 other couples for a birth prep class at the hospital. We opted to take the one-day class rather than the 5-week series. And thank god we did, because while the information was definitely useful, I can't imagine how they fill up 5 weeks worth of classes! For me, the class accomplished exactly what I was hoping for: 1: Ensure Patrick knows where the hospital is located; and 2: Watch a birth video with Patrick. Fun times!
The following weekend was the highlight of the month for me: my mom and sisters came in to town and my sisters-in-law threw me a baby shower! It was the most perfect and wonderful baby shower ever. Words can't express how thankful and overwhelmed I am by how generous my friends and family are. As a result, we're now 99% ready for the baby to arrive!

Not only were the gifts beautiful, but the food was delicious. I ate about half an entire fruit pizza, several pieces of homemade carrot cake, and loads of fruit dipped in chocolate. How much better can it get? Oh and did I mention that I just happened to gain 4 pounds in those 2 weeks?!
I go back to the doctor again Wednesday, which kicks off my weekly visits. On the one hand, it’s kind of scary that I’m at this point. But on the other hand…I’m ready! My belly feels like an extra-large pan of jiffy pop, and I’m not sure if there’s much more room in my belly for this baby to grow bigger. Although I’m sure he’ll continue to try!
This is my friend Betsy and me at my shower. She gave birth to a healthy and handsome baby boy on January 25. We can't wait for Spud and Will to meet!
